Diamonds Route

Minas Gerais rose in the context of precious stones exploration and unique colonial cities were developed through the wealth coming from this activity. Today these are consolidated touristic cities that harmoniously mix tradition and modernity. The small villages that spread around these cities show an exuberant nature, the Brazilian "cerrado". You are going to enjoy history, culture and local tradition during this unforgettable experience which you're going to live for eight days in the Gold and Diamond Route.

Day 1
Transfer Belo Horizonte/ Serra do Cipó or Airport/ Serra do Cipó. Check into the chosen accommodation. Afternoon and night are free.

Day 2
You are going to enjoy a walk to "Cachoeira Grande" waterfall where you can refresh yourself with a swim. On the way you will enjoy the local typical fauna and vegetation. Afterwards, you will head to the antique "Seu João" distillery , where you will learn about the hand-crafted process of cachaça (a Brazilian kind of rum) fabrication; "Venda do Zeca", an ancient tend that conserved its original format; visit "Fazenda Cipó" a 300 year old farm that was used by "Tropeiros" (travellers that used to take or commercialize commodities) to rest and to get supplies; visit to "Espaço Inhá" Museum ; the 1829 Chapel; and an active watermill used to fabricate cornmeal.

Day 3
Your destination is going to be the Lapinha Village. Lapinha has about 300 inhabitants, an easy and very simple environment. It is located about 45 minutes away from Serra do Cipó, surrounded by a 14 km lagoon and a fantastic hill called "Serra do Espinhaço", with a 1,200 m altitude. A scenic rock wall is also part of this scenery that gives life to many waterfalls. A boat trip takes you to an archeological ranch where you will find rock paintings from eleven thousand years.
Lunch in Lapinha. Return to Pousada and the rest of the day is free.

Day 4
Check out and you leave to the picturesque village of Milho Verde. On the way you are going to stop at the "Juquinha" statue, a legendary character from the region. Check in Milho Verde. Free Night.

Day 5
Check out Milho Verde. Trip to São Gonçalo do Rio das Pedras. Check in São Gonçalo do Rio das Pedras. After lunch, shopping tour to buy wine and handmade liquor, sweets, hand- crafted cosmetics, local rugs. Free night.

Day 6
Walk to "Raio" Mountain, return to accommodation. After lunch check out and you leave to Diamantina. Check in Diamantina. Rest of the day is free.

Day 7
Visit to "Garimpo Real", where you will see a gold mining camp still working. Some people say that between talks you might find some golden stones. After lunch you will explore Diamantina in a city tour, visiting museums and historical houses. Free night.

Day 8
Visit to the Slaves Path in Diamantina. Check out and transfer to Belo Horizonte or Airport.
