Born and raised in the poor outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Mario da Silva was living on the streets when he first had contact with the theater. He then became an actor and later turned his attention to music.
He mixes samba with rock, funk and reggae and during an international career he has performed in several films, notably 'Cidade de Deus' and 'The Life Aquatic'. In music, successes such as 'Carolina' marked his career and made thousands of people around the world dance.
